FALL RIVER, Wis. - The Clinton girls basketball team took second place in the Fall River Holiday Invitational after falling 59-56 to Fall River in the championship game Saturday night.

The Cougars defeated Waterloo 85-54 in the first game Friday night. Addyson Ciochon scored 19 points while Liz Kalk scored 11 points and added 12 assists, four rebounds and four steals.

Freshman Jayden Nortier, making her varsity debut, scored 16 points while Hannah Welte added 10.

Against Fall River, Kalk led the Cougars with 15 points and six assists. Welte and Olivia Roehl each added 10 points.

The Cougars led 31-25 at halftime before being outscored 34-25 in the second half.

• TURNER 50, DELAVAN-DARIEN 25: The Trojans had no trouble with the Comets Friday night, leading 27-13 at halftime on the way to a 25-point win.

Senior Jenn Njoo hit four of her five 3-pointers in the first half on the way to 18 points, while Olivia Tinder added nine.

The Trojans improved to 5-3 on the season and will play at McFarland Friday night.

Connor Green added 12 points and Cade Walker 11 for Brodhead, which led by 14 points by halftime.

Connor Simonson had 17 points to pace the Vikings (3-5).

• PREP WRESTLING: The Beloit Turner wrestling team placed 10th at Saturday's Mid-States Classic, held in Whitewater.

Drew Ries won the 195-pound weight class with a major decision victory over Tommy McDermed of New Trier.

Trey Bivens (160) also had a solid tournament, placing third, while Trey Griinke (220) reached the finals before losing in a major decision to Cole Ebert of Reedsville.
