BELOIT - The Beloit Art Center, 520 E. Grand Ave., will feature the art of Nancy McKinnon during its January exhibit in the main gallery. McKinnon has been a travel agent for 48 years and developed her passion for painting while serving as the travel organizer for watercolor artist and instructor, Barbara Mathews. Mathews led "Come Paint with Me" art tours that combined travel to beautiful places with a love of painting. McKinnon coordinated one of her art tours to Maui.

"A tropical island, sunshine and beautiful flowers had all the components to put myself into the zone, to begin my new love for 'doing art'." said McKinnon.

McKinnon now leads painting workshops for kids and adults in Janesville, Beloit and Clinton and also led an art-therapy workshop for a men's shelter. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Regional Art Association and is the chairperson for Bridging Generations, a youth program for children.

The Bell Gallery will feature the art of high school student, Sam Biebers. Biebers is a protegee of McKinnon and this will be the first public display of his art.

The exhibits will open with an a reception from 5-9 p.m. on Friday. The artists will briefly speak about their work at 6 p.m.
