BELOIT—Verona’s boys hockey team scored three first-period goals and never looked back, knocking off host Beloit Memorial 6-0 in Big Eight Conference action Tuesday at Edwards Ice Arena.

Easton Simpson put the Wildcats on top at the 11:20 mark and just 24 seconds later Max Codde made it 2-0. Verona’s Tre Grignon made it 3-0 with a power-play goal at 14:05. The Purple Knights were outshot 24-4 in the first period.

The Wildcats’ Code added his second goal in the second period and Isaac Thomas also scored. The only tally of the third period was by Grignon.

Beloit goalie Jameson Flanagan stopped 63 shots in all. Verona’s Owen Hebgen was credited with 17 saves.
