RIPON—The Beloit College men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the Red Hawk Invite hosted by Ripon College Saturday with junior Eva Laun-Smith again leading the charge.

With Laun-Smith capturing a pair of first places, the Buccaneer women finished fourth in a 12-team field while the men were eighth out of 13 teams.

Laun-Smith’s 9.18 clocking in the 60-meter hurdles topped the competition by nearly three-tenths of a second. Her leap of 5.45 meters (17-10.75) was tops in the long jump while teammate Lena Ramsey took silver with a jump of 5.17 meters (16-11.5). Laun-Smith and Ramsey finished second and third in the triple jump with distances of 11.39 meters (37-4.5) and 11.16 meters (36-7.5) respectively.

Aminah Crawford highlighted the sprints for Beloit with a bronze in the 60-meter dash crossing the line in 8.16. She added sixth-place points in the 200 with a time of 27.39.

Ramsey, Laun-Smith and Crawford were joined by Courtnie Thomas to combine for a fourth-place time of 1:52.65 in the 4x200 Saturday.

On the men’s side, Genesis Solomon took home a medal with a thrid-place leap of 6.39 meters (20-11.75) in the long jump. Teammate Joshua Milligan was sixth in the event with a distance of 6.11 meters (20-0.5). Solomon added eighth-place points to the team total in the triple jump recording a leap of 11.96 meters (39-3).

Three more Bucs added points to the team total in individual events with Mauricio Penn placing eighth in the 400 crossing the lilne in 54.03, Yusuke Hatano stopping the clock in 16:49.07 in the 5,000 for eighth and a pole vault height of 3.34 meters (10-11.5) for Leeland Crum that also placed eighth.

Beloit was represented by four teams in the 4x200 relay led by a fourth place time of 1:38.02 from the combination of Ajani Joseph, Travis Price, Penn and Charles Sandberg.
