SUN PRAIRIE, Wis.—James Hoey’s debut as head coach of Beloit Memorial’s boys hockey program wasn’t a victory, but the Purple Knights certainly battled against perennially tough Sun Prairie on the road Tuesday night.
Goalie Jameson Flanagan stopped a whopping 63 shots, but Beloit fell 3-0.
The Cardinals’ Davis Hamilton scored an unassisted goal 2:30 into the game. Adrien Kreitlow made it 2-0 about seven minutes later. Flanagan had 26 saves in the period.
Flanagan had 26 more saves in a scoreless second period.
Aiden White tallied Sun Prairie’s third goal in the third period.
Cardinals goalie Noah McCrary had nine saves.
Beloit is back in action Friday when it plays Milton at 3:30 p.m. in its own Thanksgiving Tournament at Edwards Ice Arena. Monroe plays Kenosha at 1 p.m. The winners will play at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The losers square off at 9 a.m.
