Beloit College’s Bea Champeny-Johns competes in the 100-yard breaststroke against UW-Oshkosh Saturday. She is a former Beloit Memorial High School swimmer.

BELOIT—Beloit College’s swimming and diving team returned to the pool after a holiday break and fell in a dual-meet with UW-Oshkosh in Nicholls Natatorium Friday night.

The Buccaneer men lost to the Titans 397.4-379.6. Beloit’s women fell 430.5-361.8.

Camden Leonard led Beloit individually with a pair of first-place finishes. He won the 100 individual medley with a 58.44-second clocking and won the 100 free in 50.34. Leonard added a bronze in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.87).

For the women, Maclaryn Leonard took first in the 100 individual medley (1:07.30). She was third in the 100 backstroke (1:06.96).

Other top finishers for the Bucs included a second place for Abbey Scott in the 100 freestyle (1:02.44) and third-place finishes by Nathan Sill (100 butterfly, 1:07.64), Helena Harrison (1 meter dive, 145.70), Bea Champeny-Johns (100 breaststroke, 1:19.61) and Lulu Champeny-Johns (50 free, 27.65; 100 fly, 1:08.62).

The Bucs are off until Jan. 22 when they travel to Waukesha to swim at Carroll University at 1 p.m. They then will compete in the Wisconsin Private College Championships in Kenosha Jan. 29.
