BELOIT—Beloit College’s men’s basketball team will limp into the holiday break after an 88-67 non-conference loss to Carthage College on Tuesday night in Flood Arena left them with a five-game losing streak.

Carthage shot 63 percent in the first half to take a 49-32 lead. The Firebirds boosted their lead to as much as 28 in the second half. The Buccaneers cut the deficit to 15 with just under 3 minutes remaining, but got no closer.

Beloit (2-9, 1-4 MWC) shot 44 percent from the floor and 31 percent from 3-point range, but just 50 percent at the free-throw line. Carthage shot 56 percent from the field, 44 percent on treys and 67 percent at the line.

Brian Rusch and Azeez Ganiyu each had 12 points to lead the Bucs, combining to shoot 9-of-14 from the floor. Ganiyu also had a team-high eight rebounds and blocked two shots. Mylan Walters dished out five assists.

Fillip Bulatovic led Carthage (5-5, 0-4 CCIW) with 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting and also had eight boards. Garrett Horner had 17 points and Kyle Czerak and Colton Sigel each chipped in a dozen points.
