BELOIT—Beloit College’s women’s soccer team posted its third consecutive shutout, blanking Nebraska Wesleyan University, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at the Strong Soccer Complex.

Paulyna Gorgievski found the back of the net in the 14th minute for the Buccaneers. Natalie Ortiz made it 2-0 in the second half.

The Bucs (3-0-2) head to Kenosha to play Carthage at 7 p.m. Wednesday before returning home to host Ripon at 11 a.m. Saturday.

• CROSS COUNTRY: Beloit College’s men and women competed in the Tom Hoffman Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater Saturday. The Bucs women finished 12th and the men were 13th in a field that featured a variety of institutions from community college to NCAA Division I.

Josephine Czuji was the first Buc to finish in a women’s race that featured more than 150 runners. Also competed for Beloit were Maggie Baugh, Charlotte Bretz, Marianna Carus and Carter Browne.

Christian Bowers was the top finisher for the men in a field of nearly 200 while Alexandre Atou, Aiden Cortinas, Owen Eichfeld, Aaron Holzmueller, Cristian Martinez-Zendejas, and Vincent Le also represented Beloit.

UW-Whitewater won the men’s title and Washington University won the women’s title.
