BELOIT—The Beloit College football team suffered its worst defeat of the season Saturday, falling to Monmouth 63-3.
The only thing standing in the way of the Scots blanking the Buccaneers was a 42-yard field goal by Rafael Cervantes Jr.
The Scots led 14-3 after the first quarter, and it would only get worse for the Bucs from there.
Monmouth added 21 points in the second quarter, 14 in the third and 14 more in the fourth.
As the final score would indicate, the Scots dominated every facet of the game. They had 34 first downs to Beloit’s five. Monmouth rushed for 250 yards compared to Beloit’s 33 and the Scots had 262 yards passing to Beloit’s 48.
The Bucs (0-6) play at Lawrence Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Monmouth quarterback Carter Boyer was impressive, completing 21 of 28 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown.
Jacob Shafer was 8-for-16 for Beloit for 48 yards, while RB Silas Say had 14 carries for 32 yards.
