DAVENPORT, Iowa- One poor inning did in the Beloit Snappers Thursday night.
The Snappers took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning, only to see Quad Cities score all three of its runs in the River Bandits' 3-2 victory.
An RBI single by Wilyer Abreu brought home a run, and Grae Kessinger walked with the bases loaded to even the score. Oscar Campos then lifted a sacrifice fly for the go-ahead tally.
Beloit scored both of its runs in the second inning when Nick Ward tripled to drive home Santis Sanchez, and Joseph Pena chased Ward home with a sacrifice fly.
The Snappers were held down offensively besides that inning as a pair of Quad Cities hurlers combined to hold them to just two hits.
Rafael Kelly started for the Snappers and was terrific. He allowed six hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out nine in 5 2-3 scoreless frames.
Chase Cohen (5-10) was the pitcher responsible for all three runs in the seventh, while Josh Reagan closed out the game with 1 2-3 scoreless innings.
The Snappers play the series finale Friday at 6:30 p.m., then return to Pohlman Field for the start of a seven-game homestand beginning Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
