PLOVER, Wis. - The 19U Rock County River Monsters finished the Plover Tournament in second place after falling to the host squad in Sunday's title game by an 8-3 margin.
The two Legion teams entered the bottom of the fourth tied at 3-3 before Plover broke the game open with four runs.
Jake Raisbeck, Dalton Madsen and Casey Stone each had two hits to pace the Rock County offense.
Madsen took the loss on the mound after allowing three runs (two earned) in three innings.
The Monsters opened tournament play by splitting a pair of games on Friday. Rock County fell to Manitowoc 9-5 when they allowed 11 hits and committed four errors.
They defeated Madison Impact 11-1 behind five solid innings from Casey Stone and three RBI from Drew Ries.
Saturday, Rock County defeated Superior 7-2 with a solid overall performance.
Tyler Aasen went 6 1-3 innings and allowed just two runs, while Ries drove in two more runs and Sam Nemetz went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Corbin Ovist added a pair of hits and scored two runs.
Rock County advanced to the finals with a 10-0 win over Watertown. Nemetz went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI's while Ovist, Stone and Zach Zahler each had two hits.
Brett Kiger went all five innings and allowed just three hits to earn the victory.
The River Monsters will be back in action Tuesday when they play at Lake Geneva.
