BOWLING GREEN, Kent. - The Beloit Snappers offense has awoke from a season-long slumber to put up eye-popping numbers in the last three games.
The Snappers continued their offensive onslaught with a 13-9 victory over Bowling Green. It was the club's third win in a row, with the offense contributing at least nine runs and 14 hits in all three games.
Just like Wednesday, in which the Snappers had to rally from a 5-0 deficit, Thursday's win was of the comeback variety.
After the teams traded runs in the first inning, the Snappers scored a pair in the second to take a 3-1 lead.
Bowling Green responded with six runs against Beloit starting pitcher Richard Guasch to take a 7-3 lead.
Beloit would go right back to work, scoring four times in the fourth inning to tie the game, with the big blow being struck by Nick Ward, who hit a two-run triple and later scored the tying run on a grounder by John Jones.
After the Hot Rods took the lead right back in the fourth with a single run, the Snappers took the lead for good in the sixth on a two-run double by Logan Farrar. Beloit would add two more runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth while the Snappers pitching staff kept the Hot Rods at bay.
Beloit finished with 20 hits, including four by Max Schuemann and three each by Skyler Weber, Ward, Cobie Vance and Jones.
Rafael Kelly picked up the win with five stellar innings in relief. Kelly (3-1) allowed just one run on one hit while striking out three.
The Snappers and Hot Rods will meet in the finale of their three-game series Friday at 6:35 p.m.
