SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Beloit Snappers reliever Eric Marinez pitched a perfect inning in Tuesday's Midwest League All-Star game.
Marinez came on in the eighth inning after the West had tied the game at 3-3 and struck out all three batters he faced.
Both teams ran out of pitchers, necessitating in a sudden-death home run derby, which was won by the East.
Jerar Encarnacion from Clinton went 2-for-3 including a home run to highlight the West roster. Each team plated a pair of runs in the fourth inning after the East took a 1-0 lead.
The West's eighth-inning run came when Delvin Perez stole third and came home on a wild throw by catcher Pabel Manzanero.
Snappers pitcher Aiden McIntyre was selected to the game but was not available to pitch.
Beloit opens up a four-game homestand Thursday at 6:30 p.m. against Quad Cities.
