Gaziano, Conkle earn all-RVC honors

BELOIT - Beloit Turner infielder Gabbi Gaziano parlayed an excellent senior season into a spot on the All-Rock Valley Conference first team.

Gaziano, a senior, hit over.500 for the season while playing a solid defensive shortstop for the Trojans.

Joining Gaziano on the first team was pitcher Kenzy Conkle, who was a sophomore.

Clinton catcher Taylor Peterson was named second-team all-conference after helping to lead the Cougars in their finest season in several years.

Turner junior Azariah Martin made second team also, while Mara Fowler and Grace Olmstead earned honorable mention for the Trojans.

Jefferson's Kylee Lukes was the Player of the Year, while Eagles coach Mark Peterson earned Coach of the Year.

The league featured just three seniors on the first team to go along with eight juniors, two sophomores and a pair of freshmen.

• BOYS GOLF: Clinton's Tom Romano and Turner's Noah Sweet joined Brodhead's Dayton Oliver on the second-team all-Rock Valley Conference unit. WIAA Division 2 champion Joe Forsting of Edgerton topped the first team.

Edgerton placed third as a team in the Division 2 state meet.

• GIRLS SOCCER: Big Foot's Abigail Peterson and Olivia Peterson were named first-team all-Rock Valley Conference for their efforts on the pitch this season.

Abby VandeBogert and Hannah Palmer earned second-team honors for the Chiefs. Lexi Hettiger earned Player of the Year honors.

Clinton's Molly Kemp and Liz Kalk both earned honorable mention.
