WILMOT, Wis. - Beloit Memorial junior Tyler Sireci pinned his way to a title at 195 pounds in the WIAA Division 1 Wilmot Regional Saturday.

After receiving a bye in the quarterfinals, Sireci pinned Janesville Craig's Braden Hopkins in 1:14 in the semifinals. In the title match, Sireci pinned Badger's Patrick Keplar in 4:45 to run his record to 31-3.

The next highest finish for a Purple Knight was a third place by 285-pound Ryan Caudle (21-10). After winning by pin over Milton's Devin Hergert in his quarterfinal match, Caudle was pinned by Badger's Kyle Freund in the semifinals. That put Caudle in a third-place match with Janesville Parker's Nathan White which he won by pin in 5:08.

Fernando Badillo (14-14) gave Beloit a fourth-place finish at 170 pounds.

The Knights also picked up sixth-place finishes from Edwin Mora (120), Marco Olivera (138), Mario Mendoza (152) and Danny Villano (220).

At Barrington, Ill., a pair of Hononegah wrestlers punched their ticket to the IHSA Class 3A state tournament.

Cassioppi will be making his third trip downstate after winning his bracket. He picked up a pin and a pair of major decisions to slice his way through the field.

Fay defeated Jose Ramos of Mt. Prospect, giving him just his third defeat of the season, in a 4-3 quarterfinal decision.

After defeating Lance Morgan of Rockford Auburn in the semis, Fay once again gave elite wrestler Aydin Guttridge of Rockford East a run for his money.

Fay fell in a 2-1 decision, but will still get his chance Friday in Champaign.

• WIAA DIVISION 2: Beloit Turner will send four wrestlers to the WIAA Division 2 sectional meet after a terrific overall performance at the regional meet in Evansville.

Devon Harbison (120 pounds) also recorded a pair of pins to win, beating Jared Miller of Evansville/Albany in the finals.

Cal Ries placed second at 170 pounds, while Cody Krueger did the same in the 220-pound bracket.

In the same regional, Brodhead-Juda's Jackson Hauri won the 152-pound bracket, pinning both of his opponents. Brian McCullough (145) placed second, as did Jayson Starr (138) as both wrestlers advanced.
