Hot-shooting Bucs charge past Knox

BELOIT - After battling shooting inconsistency all season, Beloit College's men's basketball team put it all together Saturday afternoon.

A 99-68 rout of Knox College was the result.

The Buccaneers hit 57 percent from 3-point range (13-23) for the game, including 7-of-11 in the first half. Overall, they shot 56 percent from the field (38-68).

With the score tied at 12-12, Beloit went on an 18-8 run to take a 30-20 lead. Knox cut it to seven by the half, 43-36. Tristan Shoup scored 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting in the first half and Tyler Perleberg, one of five seniors honored prior to the contest, hit back-to-back treys.

A layup by Matthew Miller and jumper by Darin Empereur pushed the lead back to double figures. Knox cut it to single digits only once more at 47-38. A jumper by Shoup pushed it back to 11 and it stayed in double digits the rest of the game.

Knox (1-22, 0-16 MWC) shot 41 percent from the field (25-61),

Shoup led all scorers with 20 points, hitting 9-of-16 shots. Mason Jones added 16 on 5-of-6 from the floor, 3-of-4 from 3-point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Andrew Walters notched a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds adding three assists. Dan Babb also entered double figures scoring with 11.
