JANESVILLE - The Rock County Fury spotted Wisconsin Valley Union a 2-0 lead by the end of the second period and ended up dropping a non-conference game, 3-1, Friday night at the Janesville Ice Arena.

Mya Maslonka brought the Fury within 2-1 midway through the third period on assists by Haley Knauf and Sara Nerad. With less than a minute remaining, the Fury pulled goalie Olivia Cronin to put an extra skater on the ice. WVU stole the puck and scored into an empty net for the final two-goal margin.

The Fury outshot WVU 30-23. RC's Cronin had 20 saves.

• UP NEXT: The Fury travel to Sun Prairie to play the Cap-City Cougars at 8:15 p.m. Monday in a game that will determine the Badger Conference champion.
