BELOIT - A late season surge by Beloit College's women's basketball team saw them knock off Knox College, 71-60, on Saturday afternoon for a second-straight Midwest Conference victory at Flood Arena.

On Senior Day, Shelby Kline led the way with 23 points as Beloit followed a win over fourth-place St. Norbert by knocking off the team the Green Knights are tied with.

Knox led 28-23 at the break as the Buccaneers shot just 30 percent against the Prairie Fire's zone defense. Knox shot 55 percent.

That turned around in the second half. Kline opened the second half with a 3-pointer and teammates Lauren Glaser and Kelly Loudon followed suit to make it three straight trips down the floor with a trey.

Candace Cunningham broke up the 3-point run with a layup, but just 30 seconds later Loudon added hit a 3-pointer, than added another. In the first 4 minutes and 5-0 seconds of the second half, the Bucs hit five treys and took a 40-36 lead.

Knox managed to tie it at 40-40, but Glaser countered with a 3-pointer with 3:10 left in the third quarter. Beloit outscored the Prairie Fire 25-15 in the third quarter, exceeding its total scoring output in the first half.

The Bucs shot 60 percent (6-10) from beyond the arc in the third quarter and 67 percent (8-12) from the floor in the fourth. For the game, they shot 44 percent (24-54), including 10-of-28 treys. They hit 68 percent from the line (13-19). Knox was 53 percent (24-45) from the floor and 65 percent from the line (11-17), but hit just 1-of-10 treys.
