PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Freshman Eva Laun-Smith finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 11 inches in the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday.
Laun-Smith also competed on Beloit's second-place 4x200 relay with Toni Bonds, Genesis Dade and Aminah Crawford. They finished in 1:50.17.
Laun-Smith also collected a fourth in the 60 hurdles (9.24) and the long jump (17-2). Lena Ramsey was fifth in the 60 meters (8.13), the long jump (17-2) and the triple jump (35-04.00).
The 4x400 relay team of Bonds, Dade, Crawford and Melissa Pelkey was ninth (4:34.99).
• For the men, Beloit's top finish was a second by Dan Arkes in the 5000 (15>36.08). The quartet of Courtney Bingham, Tyree Smith, Travis Price and Frederik Widner was sixth in the 4x200 relay (1:38.56).
Jose Gutierrez was seventh in the 60 hurdles (8.79) and Fernando Castillo was seventh in the 200 (23.54).
Jack Klobucar was 11th in the 800 (2:02.13) and the 4x400 team of Gutierrez, Jason Dorman, Klobucar and Charles Sandberg was 11th in 3:41.75.
