Joan Marie Milsap, 61, of Shorewood, WI, and formerly of Beloit, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI.
She was born July 29, 1958 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Calvin N. Milsap and Tommie J. (Crayton) Joiner. She was a 1976 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. Joanie attended MATC and received her certificate in Administrative Assistant. She was a 20 ½ year veteran of the U.S. Army being deployed to Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. She retired from the U.S. Army as Sergeant First Class.
Joanie was formerly employed by General Motors for 20 years and the Veterans Affairs as an Environmental Service Keeper. She accepted the Lord and Savior as a young girl and then redevoted her life to Christ in her adult years. Joanie was a member of St. Matthew CME Church and the church Stewardess Board, Milwaukee, WI and a former member of Wesley CME Church, Beloit, WI. She was also a member of the UAW Local #95 and served as a Union Stewart.
Joanie never met a stranger and when giving to others she always gave her heart. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, and most of all watching Disney movies with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Lavonne Milsap of Beloit, WI; Desiree (Steven) Ellison-Olheiser of Shorewood, WI, and Deona (Brian) Mickens of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren, Nichelle Cornellier, Allante Milsap, Heavenly Lewis, Armani Reider, Chase Ellison-Olheiser, Abigail Ellison-Olheiser and Calvin Ellison-Olheiser; three great granddaughters; her mother, Tommie J. Joiner; sisters, Barbara (Joseph) Milsap Morrow and Joclyn Lemons both of Beloit, WI; brother, Craig Milsap of Beloit, WI; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her father and sister, Connie Milsap.
Celebration of Life for Joanie will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Wesley Christian Methodist Episcopal Church 1760 Shore Drive, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Richard Shaw officiating. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
Joanie's request before she departed this Earth was that no one attending her service wear Black or White. Please wear bright colors as this is a celebration of life.
