Charlie "Lean" McShan, 75, Of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 9, 2018.
Charlie was born on January 9, 1943 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, the son of Charlie "Bud" and Murkery (Crudup) McShan. He graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1961. Charlie married the love of his life, Mira Jean Davis on July 13, 1967. Mira preceded him in death on September 16, 2017. A few years later Charlie and Mira moved to Beloit, Wisconsin and Charlie began working at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Illinois, retiring in 1997 after more than 30 years of employment. Over the years Charlie helped many relatives and friends move to the area by giving them a place to stay and/or helping them financially until they got on their feet. Charlie was a working man, family man, and a great father figure. He was a man's man who taught his children and grandchildren how to be strong, independent, and know how to work. His true hobby was his family although he did enjoy watching sports on tv. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves baseball team and University of North Carolina Tarheels basketball team.
Charlie is survived by his children, Jessie Lee (Barbara) Gordon of Houlka, Mississippi, Chandra Spright of New Albany, Mississippi, Lawrence (Cherrell) McShan, Stacy (Samantha) McShan, and Janice (Ollie) Clark all of Beloit; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Nell (Ben) Eades of Pontotoc, Mississippi; father-in-law, James Davis, Sr; sisters-in-law, Leslie McShan, Sarah (Jimmy) Boyd, and Mary (Jimmy Dale) Townsend; brothers-in-law, Willie (Ruby Jean) Davis, Lester (Pearlean) Davis, and Robert (Louis) Davis; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mira; parents; son, Author Gordon, Jr; brother, David McShan; mother-in-law, Jessie Davis; and brothers-in-law, James Davis Jr, Russell White, and Bobby Jones.
Local services are 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home, 424 Prospect Street, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511 with Elder Danny Evans and Elder Bobbie Evans officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Services will be also be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Committal will be at the Pontotoc City Cemetery in Pontotoc, Mississippi.
