Paul Edward Hertel, 68, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 in Select Specialty Hospital, Madison, WI.
He was born May 20, 1949 in Evanston, IL, the son of Edward and Georgina (Prestgaard) Hertel. Paul graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1967. He graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Waldorf College in Forest City, IA in 1969. Paul then attended Winona State College and graduated in 1971 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts. He married Pamela Rauk on July 24, 1971 in Forest City, IA. They moved to Beloit for Paul to teach at Beloit Memorial High School. Together they had two children Jennifer Snippen and Christopher Hertel.
Paul quit teaching and worked for Fairbanks Morse, CamCar Textron, and IWT, retiring in 2010. While working at Textron Inc. he got a patent for a thread forming screw for forming an internal thread in low ductility material. He loved motorcycles, old cars and antiques.
Survivors include his daughter Jennifer (Jamie) Snippen and their children, Kaitlin and Lauren Snippen; son, Christopher (Julie) Hertel and their children, Elise and Finley Hertel; former wife, Pam; and sister, Mary (Gary) Muckle.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Funeral service for Paul will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Norm Starks officiating. Burial will be in Shopiere Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
