ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Discovery Center has been awarded $8,000 from the Mill Foundation.

The Mill Foundation funding will be used to support Discovery Center’s STEM on the Rock outreach program. The purpose of STEM on the Rock is to provide underrepresented middle school students hands-on enrichment programs related to science, technology, engineering and math twice a month. The programs will be held at the YMCA of Rock River Valley’s Teen Reach program site at 1829 N. Rockton Ave. Discovery Center educators and members of the National Society of Black Engineers will develop an array of interactive science-related activities with the goal of sparking interest in STEM careers.
