SOUTH BELOIT—A South Beloit man is being accused of hitting a woman in the head with a handgun, according to a news release from the South Beloit Police Department.

Eric Vance, 35, faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a class 3 felony, domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor and three counts of possession of firearms without a firearm owner’s identification card, a class A misdemeanor.

Early Thursday morning South Beloit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Gardner Street after a female called 911 to report that she had been struck over the head with a handgun. Officers observed injuries to the female which supported her report, according to the news release.

Three handguns were recovered in a search by police. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against Vance.
