TOWN OF JANESVILLE - A 48-year-old Janesville man died Friday after the SUV he was driving collided head-on with a semi-tractor trailer on Highway 14, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on West U.S. Highway 14 near North Polzin Road. Investigations indicate a GMC Jimmy SUV was westbound on Highway 14 when it crossed the center line and collided with the eastbound semi truck, according to the news release.

The SUV was fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived. The driver of the SUV was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene. The semi driver, a 50-year-old man from Albany, was not injured.

The Janesville Fire Department, Evansville Police Department and State Police responded to the scene. Highway 14 was closed for 3 1/2 hours.
