BELOIT—Stephen W. Smith has been named chief operations officer at Beloit Area Community Health Center.
Smith fills the vacancy left when the previous COO Mary Beth Johnson was promoted to the position of chief executive officer at the health center.
Smith has more than 17 years of experience in behavioral healthcare in both rural and urban settings. He earned a master’s degree in community counseling. He is a licensed therapist and certified alcohol and drug counselor. He formerly was the administrator of child and adolescent services for Rosecrance of Rockford, overseeing the services for youth in the areas of mental health, substance abuse and other issues.
Community Health Systems, parent organization for Beloit Community Health Center, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2019. It offers health services to the entire community and is especially proud to accept Medicaid and Medicare. The center also offers a sliding fee scale for those who do not have insurance and staff can help with insurance enrollment. The center offers medical, dental and behavioral health services.
