JANESVILLE—A Beloit man faces his fourth operating while intoxicated (OWI) offense following a traffic stop on Monday in Beloit, Rock County Circuit Court records show.

Brannon L. Hatchett, 44, was stopped by a Beloit police officer at around 2:38 a.m. in the area of Liberty Avenue near Bluff Street after he allegedly was observed sitting at the intersection when the traffic light was green, the complaint said.

The officer followed him to a bar in the 900 block of Fourth Street when Hatchett was told to go back to his vehicle, although he refused. The officer informed Hatchett the bar was closed, but he “insisted he was going into the bar” anyway, the complaint said.

A field sobriety test was conducted, the complaint shows.

Court records indicate Hatchett was convicted of OWI offenses in September of 2005, August of 2010 and July of 2013.
