JANESVILLE – A Beloit man who was allegedly racing on Shopiere Road and caused a severe traffic crash has been charged in the Oct. 6 incident, according to a Rock County Circuit Court criminal complaint.
Eric A. Espinoza, 20, is charged with reckless driving causing great bodily in the crash in the 2700 block of Shopiere Road. Witnesses told police that Espinoza, who was driving a Cadillac SUV, was racing an unknown vehicle traveling between 60 and 100 miles-per-hour, the complaint said.
The Cadillac traveled into the oncoming lane headed southwest to overtake vehicles also traveling southwest. A silver car was attempting to turn east onto East Hart Road when the Cadillac collided with the silver car, the complaint states.
A female victim suffered a fractured pelvis and possible concussion in the crash.
