BELOIT—The Goodwill store in Beloit has been invaded by zombies, superheroes, witches, assorted ghouls, princesses and much more.
Have no fear, however, because the trained Halloween costume helpers who work there are ready to aid all who enter in finding that perfect all hallows eve costume.
“Halloween is our busiest time of the year,” said Shannon Harper, Senior Public Relations Marketing Manager of the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin Goodwill Industries.
At the Beloit location, 2543 Prairie Ave., hundreds of costumes line the racks. And also available are accessories such as wigs, tights, make-up and other items to complete the look customers desire.
Popular this year are zombies and a lot of retro outfits, Harper said.
They include those seeking the peace and love generation ensembles of the 1970s as well as the 1980s pop stars, she said.
The store is well stocked because they prepare for Halloween all year.
“We have a mix of new and donated costumes and they are very cheap,” Harper said.
“We start saving the donated ones that come in the entire year. You can get the real bell bottoms or the real cowboy hats. We always encourage people to bring them back and donate them.”
Most people want something different each year to wear and not the same costume, she said.
The costumes remain in the store a little while after Halloween for after the holiday parties as well, Harper said.
This year also is expected to be busier because trick or treat activities that were cancelled last year due to the pandemic are back in most cities.
“We love Halloween; it’s a pretty fun experience,” Harper said.
