ROCKTON - Village Board members approved Rockton's 2019-2020 budget of $5,044,439 during the board's meeting on Tuesday.
Total revenues for the 2019-2020 budget are $5,056,920, while the total expenses are $5,044,439. This leaves the anticipated end of year cash on hand as $37,481.
Over the last few months, officials have worked to slash the village's anticipated $542,714 deficit in the first draft of its 2019-2020 budget.
Village president Dale Adams previously said he views the preliminary budget as a wish list.
He said the board can make cuts as needed, or village officials might find additional revenue that wasn't previously identified. Adams was hoping the village would be able to establish a fiscal cushion.
The 2018-2019 annual budget was $5,609,800. Revenues totaled $5,746,236, which leaves the anticipated end of year cash on hand as $157,537.
In the 2019-2020 plan, Rockton budgeted $1,624,331 for the police department, $779,400 for general administration expenses, $503,270 for streets and sidewalks, $504,504 for garbage collection, $355,220 for public parks and $87,100 for the swimming pool.
Rockton's upcoming fiscal year begins on June 1 and ends on May 31, 2020.
