Police look for man who lit garbage can on fire

BELOIT - Beloit police are looking for a man who allegedly lit a garbage can on fire in the 900 block of Gerald Avenue, according to command staff.

A resident reported that a black man estimated to be in his 30s or 40s was seen driving a black SUV on Gerald Avenue before stopping and placingd an unidentified object in the garbage can. After the man drove away, the caller observed a small fire in the garbage can that was later extinguished, police said.

The department asks anyone with information of the incident to contact the non-emergency line at 608-757-2244.
