Beloit minor wounded in accidental shooting

BELOIT - A 5-year-old Beloit boy was wounded following what Beloit police are calling an accidental shooting from Tuesday night in the 500 block of Highland Avenue, according to command staff.

Command staff confirmed the male minor shot himself in the hand at around 8:40 p.m. inside the home. No arrest has been made and it is unclear who the owner of the handgun is.

No other injuries were reported and the minor was transferred to Mercyhealth Hospital on Rockton Avenue in Rockford with non-life threatening injuries, command staff said.
