Citizens set meeting on casino plan

BELOIT - A citizen organized meeting regarding the Ho-Chunk Nation's casino-resort project will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Domenico's Italian Restaurant, 547 E. Grand Ave.

Organizer Bill Dorr, leader of the "11th Hour Beloit Casino Group" said the meeting is being held to go over the project's past timeline.

A previous meeting was held last month and drew around 40 attendees, most of whom remain opposed to the casino proposal that's currently pending at the federal level. Dorr said he had contacted Gov. Tony Evers staff to request that someone from the governor's office attend.

Evers press staff did not confirm attendance of a staffer at the upcoming meeting.
