MADISON - The Alliant Energy Foundation is awarding six grants to area nonprofits and municipalities.

"Our grant recipients represent so many wonderful groups who work to make life better in our state," said Julie Bauer, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. "Our investments support their crucial activities that make a difference for families, education and the environment in the area."

A total of $13,600 was donated grant funding to six organizations and municipalities including $1,600 to Hands of Faith Inc. in Beloit. The emergency shelter group will use the funding for family shelter operations and facilities improvements, according to Alliant.
