ELKHORN - The victim shot and killed by a Walworth County Sheriff's Office deputy on Oct. 18 has been identified as an Elkhorn man, according to a news release from Sheriff Kurt Picknell.
Sean Anthony Dutcher, 38, was shot by 28-year-old deputy Peter Wisnefsky on Oct. 18 following a vehicle pursuit that started in Waukesha County.
According to Picknell, Wisnefsky has worked with the sheriff's office since February of 2016 and serves in the patrol division, while currently being on administrative duty. Dutcher was on extended supervision from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections after his release from prison in May of 2017 for a fifth operating while intoxicated conviction, according to sheriff's office news release.
As previously reported by the Beloit Daily News, Dutcher was shot and killed after he allegedly drove towards Wisnefsky. The external investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) remains ongoing to be followed by a legal analysis of the shooting by the Walworth County District Attorney's Office.
