Beloit to be featured on 'Discover Wisconsin' TV show once again

BELOIT - The Beloit area once again will be featured on the Discover Wisconsin tourism TV show in October.

The "Discover Wisconsin" episode, "Beloit - Expect the Unexpected," is scheduled to air at 10 a.m. on Oct. 20 on Fox Sports Wisconsin and at 5 p.m. on WKOW Channel 27. The episode also will air on at 10:35 p.m. on Oct. 21 on WIFR Channel 23, and is also available for online streaming at discoverwisconsin.com.

"It's very exciting for Beloit to be showcased in its own episode of 'Discover Wisconsin,'" said Celestino Ruffini, executive director of Visit Beloit. "Discover Wisconsin is a brand that is known throughout the Midwest that highlights the best of the best in what our state has to offer. It is a thrill to share a few of Beloit's unique gems in this episode."

The show includes scenes that were shot at downtown Beloit's Fridays in the Park, the Farmer's Market, Beckman Mill, businesses such as Northwoods Premium Confections, Bushel & Peck's Local Market, Lucy's #7 Burger Bar, Clara Bo and Gatsby Wine Bar, Pacesetter Alpacas, the Apple Hut, Doubl B Farm Store and Cafe. Scenes also include Big Hill Park, Riverside Park and a Beloit Snappers game.

Co-hosts Mariah Haberman and Marie Justice visited these hot spots to get a taste of the area.

"I'm incredibly impressed with what the Beloit community has done to attract visitors over the last several years," Haberman said. "This city is brimming with unexpected surprises from its art and culture to its restaurant scene and recreational opportunities. We are thrilled to name Beloit an official 2018 Discover Wisconsin Choice Destination."

Visit Beloit paid $40,000 for the latest Beloit area "Discover Wisconsin" episode.

"Beloit - Expect the Unexpected" will reach Discover Wisconsin's broadcast network of 600,000 viewers across the upper Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Illinois, and Upper Michigan.
