Man dies of injuries from March 31 crash

JANESVILLE - A 19-year-old Stoughton, Wisconsin man who was injured in a March 31 crash died from his injuries Thursday, according to a release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred around 2:22 a.m. on West Dorner Road about a half-mile west of State Highway 213 near Footville.

Skylair Buckham, 21, of the Town of Milton is believed to have been the driver when the vehicle crashed into a tree. The Stoughton man was a passenger who was found outside the vehicle when emergency medical crews arrived. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville with head injuries.Buckham, who reportedly left the crash scene, later was found in Green County. He was charged by the Rock County District Attorney's Office on April 3 with injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle and hit-and-run involving great bodily harm. District Attorney's Office is reviewing the new development in the case and could issue amended charges following the 19-year-old's death.

Rock County Medical Examiner Barry Irmen said he would release the name of the victim Monday afternoon.
