BELOIT - Mary Beth Johnson, who has served as interim executive director of the Beloit Area Community Health Center for the past few months has been appointed to the position permanently.

Johnson has been serving as interim executive of the health center since July when former executive director Julie Sprecher departed. Sprecher had been executive director of the health center since July of 2015.

Johnson had joined the health center and Chief Operating Officer just this year. She was serving in both the COO and executive director roles for the past four months.

The Beloit Area Community Health Center Board of Directors offered the executive director position to Johnson on Tuesday and she was officially appointed to the position on Thursday.

Johnson has 18 years of experience in the health care industry. She attended the Chicago School of Professional Psychology where she earned a masters degree in art in psychology and international multi-cultural psychology.

The Beloit Area Community Health Center, founded in 1999, provides medical, dental and behavioral health services. The center offers a sliding fee scale for clients who can't afford high health care costs and no client is turned away due to inability to pay for services.
