BELOIT - The Beloit Area Community Health Center is one of only two recipients in Wisconsin to receive the 20th Year Commitment Award from Reach Out and Read Wisconsin.
The award is to be presented on Friday.
Since 1999 the health center has been a partner of Reach Out and Read Wisconsin in promoting childhood literacy. The Dental and Medical practices have implemented a culture of early childhood literacy by talking to parents and caregivers on the importance of reading. At every well child checkup and dental visit, the providers give children an age appropriate book to take home and share with parent tips to make reading fun. The health center is an active member of the Beloit Literacy for Life Initiative and received a grant this year from the Stateline Literacy Foundation to offer the bilingual Highlights Magazine to their pediatric patients.
