BELOIT - The School District of Beloit Board of Education discussed the beginning stages of its strategic plan and received a budget update at its Tuesday evening meeting, according to information from Board of Education President Pam Charles.

Charles said a consultant described the beginning stages of the strategic plan for the district. The consultant will be working with the district on developing a strategic plan team. During the meeting, the consultant gave the district examples of other districts' plans which led to a positive turnaround.

The board also received a budget update, but took no action. The board voted to adopt board protocols it developed during its September retreat.

The board also heard a presentation on vaping. The board will be revising its code of conduct to properly address vaping in schools. Charles said policies need a slight language tweak.

The board also voted to continue with exit interviews with departing district staff.
