Beloit man accused of his fifth OWI offense

MADISON - A Beloit man is being accused of his fifth Operating While Intoxicated offense following his arrest Tuesday night in Dane County.

Thomas James Sand, 51, was arrested at 9:25 p.m. after being stopped on Interstate 39/90 near milepost 160, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Sand was stopped by a state patrol officer for unsafe lane deviation, according to the news release. The officer detected the odor of alcohol and asked Sand to perform a field sobriety test.

An OWI is a felony in Wisconsin upon the fourth offense.
