ROCKFORD - Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney is accepting applications to fill the Winnebago County State's Attorney's position until Nov. 14.
Because current State's Attorney Joe Bruscatto was elected judge for the 17th Circuit Court on Tuesday, he will have to resign his position as the county's top attorney. He is scheduled to be sworn in as judge on Dec. 3.
Applications for the State's Attorney's position should be sent to Winnebago County Administration Building, 404 Elm St., 533, Rockford, Ill. 61101 or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applications should include letters of interest, resumes, and proof of being a licensed lawyer in Illinois. Applicants must be affiliated with the same party as the outgoing state's attorney, who is a Democrat.
Interviews of applicants are scheduled for Nov. 15 and 16. Haney's recommendation is scheduled to go before the county board on Nov. 20.
