BELOIT - As the school year slowly begins to creep up, staff at the Beloit Area Community Health Center (BACHC) want to make sure students are prepared.
From 1 - 6:30 p.m. on July 17 and Aug. 22, the health center will host its annual Back to School Night, where children will have access to school and sport physicals. The center is at 74 Eclipse Center, Beloit.
Medicaid and private insurance is accepted, and the cost is $25 for uninsured patients. Each child also will receive a backpack filled with school supplies, including pens pencils, crayons, folders and more. The backpacks and supplies are provided by United Healthcare.
"This is an event the staff looks forward to every year," said Julie Sprecher, CEO of BACHC, "They enjoy seeing all the families who come back to our clinic year after year. Our medical staff especially like getting children ready for a healthy start to the school year with a preventative exam and immunizations."
Those looking to participate don't have to be patients to do so. This year, in order to meet the demand for physicals, the center has increased the hours by starting at 1 p.m., and families are encouraged to make appointments by calling 608-361-0311. Monica Krysztopa, business development and marketing manager, said making appointments is recommended for sessions that typically last up to 20 minutes.
This is to help make sure as many families as possible are able to be seen in a timely manner, she said.
