Crash claims life of 58-year-old woman

ROCKTON - A 58-year-old South Beloit woman died Tuesday when the vehicle she was driving left the roadway and hit a tree near the intersection of South Bluff and Prairie Hill in rural Rockton.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 6:36 p.m. according to a news release from the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

The woman, who was the only person in the vehicle, was driving south on South Bluff Street when the crash occurred, according to the news release. The name of the woman has not been released pending notification of family.

Rockton Fire Protection District staff responded to the crash, according to South Beloit Chief Mike Davenport.
