Welty Center sets June programs

BELOIT - Welty Environmental Center, 1201 Big Hill Court, has the following events planned for the month of June. For more information or to register for classes, call 608-362-6212 or visit www.weltycenter.org.

• Nature's Rock Star - 3-4:30 p.m. on June 11. All ages are welcome to enjoy a guided hike while examining geological features at Big Hill Park, break open geodes, paint rocks and play games. The cost is a $5 donation.

• Speak Bird - 3-4:30 p.m. on June 18. Attendees will learn to listen to and identify several types of birds, use binoculars and utilize a bird call. All ages welcome. The cost is a $5 donation.

• Nature at the Confluence (NATC) Day Camp - 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on June 27 at NATC, 306 Dickop St., South Beloit. Campers ages 6-12 will learn basic fishing skills, make crafts and play games. Kids should dress to be outside and bring a sack lunch. The cost is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.

• Pressed Plant Journals - 3-4:30 p.m. on June 25 at Welty Center (June 13 at NATC). Budding naturalists will gather specimens and learn how to press them. The cost is a $5 donation.
