CASA of Rock County, a program of Family Services of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, Inc., has received a $5,000 Community Impact Grant from the Stateline Community Foundation to support a new multi-media recruitment campaign entitled, "Be a Hero - Become an Advocate." The funds will be used to raise awareness of the CASA program throughout the county and to highlight the need for court appointed special advocates for children in the foster care system.
CASA of Rock County's mission is to provide advocacy for abused and neglected children who, through no fault of their own, have been placed in the foster care system. Trained community volunteers meet regularly with their assigned child and parents to ensure court ordered conditions are being met and that the child is safe and supported.
CASA of Rock County is currently serving 89 children in foster care, however, there are still over 170 children on the waiting list for a CASA volunteer advocate.
