FOOTVILLE - The Luther Valley Historical Society (LVHS) is holding a fundraising event from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Tom and Sue Skinner will host "The Art of Curing and Smoking Meats" at the historic 1884 Strunk House, 2306 N. Parker Drive, Janesville.
Participants will tour the buildings, which include a restored old farm milk house, out house, simmer kitchen and smoke house, while enjoying smoked meat, cool drinks and other treats.
Dave and Evan Thomas will discuss and demonstrate the art of smoking meat and Ron Peterson, an historic limestone mason, will show the stone smoke house that he recently restored.

All proceeds will be used for the continued restoration of the LVHS Museum and Community Center in Footville.
