'Beloit leads the way again'

Thank you Beloit!

It may have taken fifty years or more but our community gave a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to our Vietnam Vets during our July 4 Beloit/Janesville Symphony Pops concert at the Harry Moore Pavilion.

Special Medallions engraved with appreciation and thanks from the citizens of Beloit were given to each Vietnam Veteran.

Over 175 Veterans or an immediate family member accepted their Medallions.

Many Beloiters came together to bring about this long overdue event. Helping to purchase the special Medallions were: Stateline Community Foundation; Tim, Debbie, Frank and Jean Marie McKearn; Visit Beloit; and Walnut Creek awards.

Purchasing the rights to "It's been a long, long time," was First National Bank and Trust.

Sponsoring the large signature placards that were placed in various locations around the city and then on four full pages of the Beloit Daily News, were ABC Supply, Downtown Beloit Association, Friends of the Riverfront and the BDN.

The City of Beloit helped with logistics around the city.

Committee members for the tribute: Tara Tinder, Edie Baran, Lori Luther, Greg Gerard, Bill Barth, Rob Tomaro, Amie Thurner, David McCoy, Marty Densch, Tim McKearn, Celestine Ruffino, Matt Bosen, Mark Finnegan, Julie and Nicki Long, Rick West, James Akbar, Tom Nightingale and Judge Jim Daley,

Beloit leads the way again.
