I found the recent article on forming an East Side Historic Area interesting.
Having grown up on the East Side of Beloit brought back many fond memories. I went through Todd School and loved it, then through Roosevelt and on through high school, at that time located on West Grand Avenue.
The point I'm getting at is that after marriage we built a home on the West Side and still live there. When we first moved in it was almost like a new town to me.
Along the way I discovered that early people in Beloit settled on the West Side overlooking the Rock River. Some of the homes are still there, predominately Bluff Street, and nearby there are some lovely homes still standing.
Not that I want to compete with the East Side Historic Area, but I do feel the West Side should be included, too.
Just an idea from someone who is very fond of Beloit.
