I am concerned about the recent conduct of the school board. Several recent actions of the board have reflected poorly on our district and have further contributed to the perception of disorganization, power plays, and overall distrust of the board. The needs of the students get lost when the board's vision is hindered by personal biases.

For these reasons I am encouraging the election of John Winklemann as the next board president. John has been a long-time member of the board and has a deep, personal commitment to the City of Beloit and the citizens of the School District of Beloit.

When I served on the school board, John was always generous and patient in his willingness to assist other board members from learning the ropes to understanding the complexities of Wisconsin school finance and the external economic/financial influences effecting taxation and budgets. John serves on and has served on several City of Beloit subcommittees and the Beloit Library board. His dedication to Beloit is unquestionable.

Most importantly, John is well respected by members of every facet of the Greater Beloit community. He has the temperament and ability to compromise with members of the SDB community. John has proven he has the patience, personality, and wisdom to balance the needs of the school district, the concerns of the community, and the reality of the finances.

Please join me in showing your support for the SDB by contacting the board members and insisting they do what is in the best interest of every student, every taxpayer, and every community member that the SDB is committed to serving by electing John Winklemann to lead the SDB Board of Education.
